STSM Topic: Data management at a commercial environment: conducting a mini data audit on the data produced by
the Times of Malta

During Elli Papadopoulou’s and Sotirios Sismanis’ visit, there will be five main stages to the mission.
Stage 1. Introduction from the Times of Malta team to how they retrieve, elaborate and finally save all this huge amount of
information and how they publish or make it available to the public.
Stage 2. Meetings with all groups of staff will be held in order to get a better and wider view on the Data Management
practices they follow for their digital content. Enquiries vary from the types of digital data that are being generated, published,
accessed and used; the people that are involved in the process; the data storage platform capabilities, etc.
Stage 3. A discussion with Times of Malta will accommodate in defining the practices that will be performed on the data, more
specific on the type of datasets that will be chosen for collection and on any confidentiality issues of the data that will be made
available online.
Stage 4. Depending on the level of agreement that will be achieved at stage 3, a mini data audit will be performed using the
Data Asset Framework Project’s (http://www.data-audit.eu/methodology.html) online tool or printed copies of questionnaires.
Stage 5. The final stage involves the results analysis from the perspective of Knowledge Management, Information Technology
and Computer Science with the required report’s authorship to be shared within the STSM’s website.
