Education indicators. Semantic web and knowledge maps – has been cancelled!

January 23, 2017 - January 24, 2017

Education is an important aspect of society and assessing the progress made by learners is key to appreciating, validating and if need be improving the educational system in place. Determining how to best assess learning outcomes continues to be a challenge for teachers and policy makers alike. From collaborative problem solving to using interactive programs, printed books and supplementary materials to independently finding information online, learning can take many forms as can assessment. More recently, the semantic web community is also discussion how web technology can be applied to 1)
disseminate information about education possibilities and achievements (complementing traditional UNESCO statistics), 2) exchange information about education respecting privacy issues, 3) developing indicator and monitoring tools to assess but also advertise achievements. This workshop is organised near (in time and space) to the Bett-Show, an event devoted to new technologies applied to education. (http://www.bettshow.com/Content/About-Bett-Show)
