Towards a comparative analysis of algorithms for the identification of topics in science
August 29, 2014 - August 30, 2014
The workshop Towards a comparative analysis of algorithms for the identification of topics in science in Berlin end of August 2014 address a specific methodological problem: the identification of communities and
related scientific fields in science. Solving this problem is key to development of Knowledge Organization Systems and research evaluation. The workshop brings together statistical physicists, information scientists and bibliometricians from leading centers world-wide which use to work on this problem independently. It is a problem-centered, problem solving workshop.
The aim of this workshop is to test methods for measuring the diversity of research fields and research organisations, and for tools visualizing interdisciplinarity of research, overlap of topics, and the development of trends.
