Combining Bibliometrics and Information Retrieval – workshop at the ISSI 2013

For the construction of knowledge maps the expertise of bibliometrics in scholarly communication is on important resource. To finally implement them it is the expertise of information retrieval and web applications which is needed. This workshop aims to bridge between those two communities. Taking place at the bi-annual international conference of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics, this workshop aims to raise awareness of the missing link and to create a common ground for the incorporation of science models into retrieval at the digital library interface. One possible application concerns bibliometric tracing and mapping of literary and philosophical authors. Initiated by Philipp Mayr from KnowEscape Peter Mutschke and Andrea Scharnhorst are involved in the organization of this event together with Philipp Schaer and Howard White, well-known information scientist from Drexel University.
